Academic Staff Biography
Suprehatin is a Lecturer in Agribusiness at the Department of Agribusiness, Faculty of Economics and Management, IPB University. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness from IPB University and a Master’s and PhD in Agricultural Business and Global Food and Agricultural Business from the University of Adelaide. In addition to his academic role, he has served as Secretary and Head of the Center for Agriculture and Rural Development Studies at IPB University. He teaches agribusiness value chains, product marketing, consumer behaviour, forecasting, policy and strategy, cooperatives, institutional economics, and agribusiness supply chains at undergraduate to doctoral levels.
His research focuses on agrifood value chains, digitalisation, and farmer participation in modern markets. He has led and participated in international projects on e-commerce for smallholder inclusion, cocoa certification and farmer welfare, smart farming and data analytics, agroforestry value chains, and digital village development. His extensive publications examine technology adoption, consumer behaviour, traceability systems, supply chain governance, and market competitiveness. Through applied research and policy engagement, he aims to strengthen farmer inclusion, market efficiency, and sustainability of Indonesia’s agrifood systems.

Analysing coordination, certification, and upgrading in food and agricultural value chains to improve efficiency and farmer participation.
Digitalisation and e-commerce in agribusiness
Studying digital platforms, smart data, and online markets to integrate smallholders into modern food systems.
Consumer behaviour and food marketing
Examining purchasing decisions, preferences, and trust to support more responsive and competitive agrifood markets.
