Academic Staff Biography

Joko Purwono is a Lecturer in Agribusiness at the Department of Agribusiness, Faculty of Economics and Management, IPB University. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Socio-Economics in 1984 and his Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics in 1993 from IPB University, and completed his Doctorate in Education Management at Universitas Negeri Jakarta in 2015. His academic career focuses on developing entrepreneurial and managerial capacity in agribusiness education. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in entrepreneurship, business planning, agribusiness law and ethics, leadership, and small and medium enterprise development.

His research spans agribusiness entrepreneurship, social capital, marketing, and organisational performance. His recent publications examine consumer loyalty in citrus markets, entrepreneurial characteristics of oil palm farmers, marketing efficiency of betel nut, technology transfer of rice varieties, and social capital among chili farmers. By combining education management with agribusiness research, he aims to strengthen entrepreneurial behaviour, innovation adoption, and business performance in Indonesia’s agrifood sector.

Studying loyalty, satisfaction, and marketing channels in horticulture and plantation commodity markets.

Analysing how education, self-efficacy, and institutional readiness affect innovation adoption and organisational outcomes.
