Academic Staff Biography

Harmini is a Lecturer in Agribusiness at the Department of Agribusiness, Faculty of Economics and Management, IPB University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics and Computing and a Master’s degree in Statistics from IPB University, and a PhD in Economics from the University of Indonesia. Since joining IPB University in 2005, she has developed strong expertise in quantitative analysis, econometrics, and agribusiness data science, and teaches courses in socioeconomic statistics, forecasting, quantitative methods, consumer behaviour, applied economic mathematics, and agribusiness megadata management.

Her research integrates advanced statistical modelling with agribusiness and food system analysis. She has led and contributed to national and international studies on off-farm income, technical efficiency of rice farming, coffee and pepper value chains, export performance, and price volatility of strategic food commodities. Her extensive publication record in international and national journals reflects a strong focus on evidence-based evaluation of markets, policies, and household welfare. Through research, teaching, and professional engagement, she aims to strengthen data-driven decision-making for sustainable and competitive agrifood systems in Indonesia.

Agribusiness data analytics and econometrics

Applying advanced statistical, econometric, and megadata methods to analyse agribusiness performance, prices, and policy impacts.

Food and commodity value chains

Examining governance, price transmission, and competitiveness of coffee, pepper, horticulture, and livestock value chains.

Farm household income and efficiency

Investigating how off-farm income, technology, and risk affect technical efficiency and welfare of smallholder farmers.
