Academic Staff Biography
Anna Fariyanti is a senior academic in Agribusiness and Agricultural Economics at IPB University and formerly served as Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of the Faculty of Economics and Management (2019 – February 2024). She holds Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees in Agribusiness and Agricultural Economics from IPB University and is widely recognised for her expertise in agribusiness risk, farm management, and agricultural finance.
Her research spans a wide range of agrifood systems, including palm oil, coffee, seaweed, shallots, and livestock, with a strong focus on production and price risk, value chains, and sustainability. She has led and contributed to major international and national research projects funded by UNEP, the Australia–Indonesia Centre, BPDPKS, and the Ministry of Education, addressing issues such as smart farming, biodiversity valuation, and smallholder income resilience. Through her extensive publication record and applied research, she aims to support policies and innovations that improve the competitiveness, sustainability, and financial viability of smallholder-based agribusiness systems.
Research Interest
Agribusiness risk and farm management
Analyzing production risk, price volatility, and financial risk in farming systems, including the role of insurance, credit, and managerial decision-making in improving farm resilience.
Smallholder value chains and agrifood systems
Studying palm oil, seaweed, coffee, vegetables, and livestock value chains to identify pathways for improving productivity, income, and sustainability of smallholder-based agribusiness.
Agricultural finance and household economics
Investigating how savings, credit constraints, and household economic behavior affect farm investment, technology adoption, and long-term sustainability.
