Academic Staff Biography
Al-May Abyan Izzy Burhani is a Lecturer in Agribusiness at the Department of Agribusiness, Faculty of Economics and Management, IPB University. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness Economics and his Master’s degree in Agribusiness Science at IPB University, where he developed a strong foundation in agribusiness management, entrepreneurship, and institutional economics. Since joining the faculty in 2023, he has been actively involved in undergraduate teaching, delivering courses in agribusiness entrepreneurship, cooperatives and institutions, feasibility studies, agribusiness strategy and policy, forecasting, quantitative methods, and consumer behaviour.
His research interests focus on agribusiness institutions, cooperative development, entrepreneurship, and consumer decision-making in agri-food markets. He has conducted studies on the performance and readiness of Posdaya as pre-cooperative institutions and has published research on millennial and Gen-Z purchasing behaviour in coffee shops. In addition to academic research, he is actively engaged in community-based agribusiness development, particularly in strengthening institutional innovation for smallholder livestock enterprises. Through his teaching, research, and outreach activities, he aims to support the development of inclusive, entrepreneurial, and institutionally strong agribusiness systems in Indonesia.

Agribusiness institutions and cooperatives
Examining the performance, governance, and readiness of community-based and pre-cooperative institutions to strengthen collective action and inclusive smallholder participation.
Consumer behaviour and agribusiness markets
Analysing purchasing decisions, lifestyle preferences, and market structures—particularly among Millennials and Zoomers—to understand demand dynamics in food and beverage markets.
Community-based agribusiness development
Investigating institutional innovation and organizational strengthening in farmer and livestock groups to enhance productivity, value addition, and sustainability.
