Academic Staff Biography

Herawati is a Lecturer in Agribusiness at the Department of Agribusiness, Faculty of Economics and Management, IPB University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Agribusiness from IPB University and has been actively involved in teaching and research since joining the department in 2019. Her teaching covers quantitative methods, operations research, feasibility studies, farm management, consumer behaviour, information systems, entrepreneurship, and managerial economics. Alongside her academic role, she serves as Coordinator of Student Affairs and Disciplinary Commission of the Agribusiness Department and Treasurer of the Indonesian Agribusiness Association.

Her research is strongly oriented toward applied market and value chain analysis in Indonesia’s food and agribusiness sectors. She has led and participated in projects on cocoa certification, horticultural storage innovation, coconut and garlic development, food price dynamics during COVID-19, integrated farming systems, and agribusiness digitalisation. Her publications in international and national journals focus on pricing behaviour, marketing channels, productivity, and farmer income. Through research and policy engagement, she aims to improve market efficiency, farmer welfare, and the resilience of Indonesian agrifood systems.

Agrifood price dynamics and market behaviour

Analysing price formation, volatility, and marketing margins in traditional and modern food markets.

Value chains and farmer welfare

Studying cocoa, horticulture, livestock, and plantation value chains to assess how marketing channels and certification affect farmer income.

Digitalisation and smart agribusiness systems

Developing storage, forecasting, and digital tools to improve efficiency, transparency, and competitiveness in agribusiness.
