Academic Staff Biography

Narni Farmayanti is a Lecturer in Agribusiness at the Department of Agribusiness, Faculty of Economics and Management, IPB University. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from IPB University and a Master’s degree in Agriculture from Kagoshima University, Japan. Since joining IPB University in 2005, she has taught a wide range of undergraduate and diploma courses, including entrepreneurship, agribusiness risk, feasibility studies, research methodology, accounting, management, and fisheries business practices. Her academic career integrates agribusiness, entrepreneurship, and fisheries-based enterprise development.

Her research focuses on agribusiness performance, sustainability, and consumer behaviour in food and fisheries systems. Her publications examine consumer loyalty in restaurants, income and cost structures of milkfish ponds and cattle breeding, and the sustainability of aquaculture using multidimensional scaling approaches. She has also published extensively on farmer–fisher empowerment, local institutions, and agroecosystem-based development models. Through research, community service, and halal product mentoring for MSMEs, she aims to strengthen entrepreneurship, value addition, and sustainable livelihoods in agribusiness and fisheries-based communities.

Agribusiness and fisheries entrepreneurship

Examining business feasibility, risk, and performance of farm and fisheries enterprises to strengthen entrepreneurship and income generation.

Consumer behaviour and market sustainability

Analysing customer loyalty, product preferences, and marketing performance in food, aquaculture, and livestock-based value chains.

Community-based and agroecosystem development

Studying how local institutions, agroecosystems, and empowerment strategies enhance competitiveness and sustainability of rural livelihoods.
