Researcher Biography

Amzul Rifin is a Professor of Agribusiness and senior agricultural economist at the Department of Agribusiness, Faculty of Economics and Management, IPB University, and currently serves as Education and Cultural Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from IPB University, a Master’s degree in International Development from the International University of Japan, and a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of Tokyo. His academic and professional career spans teaching, policy analysis, and international cooperation in agribusiness and food systems.

His research focuses on agricultural trade, global value chains, food security, and agribusiness competitiveness. He has led and contributed to policy-oriented studies funded by Bank Indonesia, the Ministry of Trade, and various commodity associations, addressing issues such as price transmission, biofuel policy, SME digitalisation, and export performance. Through his publications and advisory roles, he seeks to strengthen evidence-based policymaking and enhance the resilience and competitiveness of Indonesia’s agrifood sector in regional and global markets.
